HYPEROPIA

Hyperopia is another one of the defects of refraction. In this case, the opposite occurs to myopia, so that objects are focused behind the retina, as the rays of light reach it without converging because the eyeball is shorter than normal. The treatment may be with laser or intraocular lenses, depending on the refraction and age of the patient.

SYMPTOMS

The symptoms are, therefore, deteriorated near-sightedness and farsightedness, constant accommodation and visual fatigue. In short, with this problem patients do not see well, whether near or far, although the adaptation in vision from far can be better than in that of myopic patients.

Convex lenses are needed to compensate for the defect or refractive surgery.

TREATMENTS

As with all surgeries, an evaluation by the clinic’s team of ophthalmologists is necessary. During this evaluation, and based on the specific characteristics of your eye and a personalized study, you will be informed about the most appropriate techniques and any possible alternatives to surgery, if available.

The treatment can be with a laser or intraocular lenses, depending on the patient’s refraction and age.
