The glasses will be used in a school that offers training to blind people and sight preservation in Peru.

The Fundación Fernández-Vega has donated glasses to a school that offers training to blind people and sight preservation in Peru. The construction of this centre has been launched by “Mother Covadonga”, a missionary from Asturias who last month started a tour around the region searching for help for this new project of her catholic civil association “Ayudando a caminar con Covadonga en Ayacucho” (Helping to walk with Covadonga in Ayacucho).

She is a Dominican from Pola de Lena who, with 90 years has already spent sixty-two as missionary in South America. There she fights ignorance, helps the physically and mentally disabled who have no financial resources and guides different communities in lecture and training. To achieve this objective, she needs glasses with different graduations and she has therefore contacted the Institute.

On top of this, after the request made by Mother Covadonga and in this same framework, the Fundación Fernández-Vega – who usually provides this kind of assistance – has planned a visit to Peru to give ophthalmological care.
