Professor Luis Fernández-Vega, Medical Director at the Institute, ad Dr José F. Alfonso Sánchez, head of the Cornea, Crystalline and Refractive Surgery Unit participate at the XV edition of FacoElche, which on this occasion has been entitled “La niña de mis ojos“ (The apple of my eyes), and which will take place between January 31 and February 2. It is a scientific meeting devoted to phacorefractive surgery that takes place every year in Elche, over seven hundred ophthalmologists and sight professionals from all over Spain and abroad attends it. The program of this edition includes communiqués, conferences, courses and a live surgery.
Professor Luis Fernández-Vega opens the conference, as president of the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology (SEO in Spanish), and is a member of the panel of experts in “La tarde del Femto-Faco de Cataratas” (The evening of femto-phaco in cataracts”. On top of this, he answers to the alarm Facoalarma (Phacoalarm) 2013 “Obsolescence (planned/unplanned) of equipment ant surgical techniques in Ophthalmology”, coordinates the debate “¿Bi or Tri?” and participates in “Quince años de Facoelche II” (Fifteen years of Facoelche II).
On the other hand, Dr José F. Alfonso Sánchez will also be present, as president of the Spanish Society of Ocular Implants and Refractive Surgery (SECOIR), in the official opening, he will moderate the session “Hablando de tóricas” (Talking about toric lenses), coordinate “La lente fáquica y yo” (Phakic lenses and I) and present “El Bioptics real” (The real bioptics).
Both Drs are jointly responsible for the session “La cirugía de cataratas ya en el siglo XXI: ¿Quién, dónde y cómo? (Cataract surgery in the XXI century: Who, where and how?)
