THE FUNDACIÓN FERNÁNDEZ-VEGA COLLABORATES WITH ASOCIACIÓN ARBOLAR

A team of ophthalmologists and optometrists from the Fundación Fernández-Vega visited Gijon on Thursdays 26th April and 31st May so that 40 members of ARBOLAR (Residential and Integration Support Centre Association) could undergo a general eye health screening.
The Foundation saw more than 20 members of ARBOLAR, all with some kind of intellectual disability and, given the success of the initiative, it will be repeated to check-up more patients of the organisation.
This medical activity is framed in the action plan of the Fundación Fernández-Vega; its goals include providing ophthalmological services to collectives with some kind of impairment. The work done by the foundation – both in Spain and abroad – can be carried out thanks to the work of the professionals and the resources of the Eye Institute (Instituto Oftalmológico Fernández-Vega), as well as the help of other entities and anonymous collaborators.
ARBOLAR is an association that, from its headquarters in Avenida Galicia No 62, protects the dignity, equality and the rights of those in intellectual disadvantage. At the same time, the mothers, fathers and tutors of those with any kind of handicap are members of FEAPS Principado de Asturias (Federation of Associations for the Integration of People with Intellectual Disabilities of the Principality of Asturias)
